The Group meetings start at 8.00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month except August and December, and unless otherwise stated are held at the Society Hall. For location, see the Shop & Hall tab above.
New members are always welcome.
We are a small friendly group of people who are interested in growing and showing fuchsias and geraniums, we hold our meetings on the third Wednesday of each month except January, August and December.
We have allocated cuttings for Geraniums and Fuchsias which are sold to member in February and March meetings and members are expected to show them at the shows in June and August.
We hold a Geranium show on the 3rd Saturday of June each year in conjunction with the CHS Summer Show, and on the 1st Saturday in August we hold a Fuchsia Show. Rosettes, Cups and Trophies are awarded to the winners and held for one year. There are 22 Classes in the Geranium Show and 25 Classes in the Fuchsia Show. Points are awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd awards in both shows which are added together and the winner with the most points receives a silver salver at the AGM which is held in November each year.
IVAN BUDGEN
Ivan Budgen sadly died on 17th February 2015. He was a member of the Crawley Horticultural Society for 40 years and Chairman of the Pelargonium and Fuchsia Group for over 30 years; a very active member of the Society we remember how much he enjoyed the competitive challenge when entering his plants in the Shows. A fuller tribute will appear in the next issue of the Newsletter.

PREPARING YOUR FUCHSIAS FOR SHOW
Sort your plants now for the classes in the show schedule. Please read the schedule carefully.
Keep feeding your plants and spray for pests if necessary. Watch the watering.
When the fear of frost has gone, stand your plants outside as the heat may be too fierce for them inside. If possible provide a bit of shade.
For stopping your plants, please see the schedule.
